Your Words: An interview with Loretta, CSTS Supporter

The final CSTS Supporter interview for 2011 is with Loretta from Waco, Texas…

1. When was your first CSTS?
I’ve been going to the Dallas/Ft. Worth screenings since the beginning. Having to drive 1 1/2 hours to get there, I always try to get together a carload or a group of friends to go to the screening. Then we can have a fun road trip and get to see an amazing film on the big screen.

2. How many times have you seen Serenity?
I’ve seen Firefly/Serenity too many times to count. I have several copies of the show/movie and actually keep a set up at work, where I enjoy listening to them on a regular basis. So I’m sure the number would be on the high end… haha.

3. Who is your favorite Firefly character and why?
I love every single character but I’d say that Serenity itself is a character, and my favorite, because she almost seems to have a life on her own. Serenity is a safe haven to everyone on the crew and yet has so many nuances/secrets. There are so many things that we could have learned about her and the crew.

4. What does being a Browncoat mean to you?
It means standing for what you believe in, whether unconventional or not. Being willing to support and spread the signal when it’s needed, yet to celebrate the small victories with the belief that the victories will get bigger and bigger as time goes on.

5. Why do you support CSTS and Equality Now?
It’s because both CSTS and Equality Now are such worthy causes – so it’s just natural that a Browncoat or Firefly/Serenity fan would go to the screening events, donate money, watch an amazing movie with amazing people, and continue supporting both causes every year. I also support because the screenings/events are so fun and memorable that I look to them all year.

Thanks Loretta, for taking the time to share your words about your love for Firefly & Serenity, and your support for Can’t Stop the Serenity and Equality Now. You’ve summed up being a Browncoat so well, and we hope that we’ll see you at many more screenings to come!
