CSTS Broadwave - Registration is Open

It's registration time again! If you plan to host a Can't Stop the Serenity event in your area, you can now fill out the registration form. For the registration form, click here. You'll need to complete the Event Details section for each event you're planning to host. Do not advertise your event until your event has been confirmed.
If you are still working out the final details, send in a Pre-registration form.

The following are the event registration deadlines:

-June and July events: March 31
-August events: June 30
-September events: July 31

Again, please note if you plan to hold an event in June or July, you must register (not just preregister) by March 31.

Not quite sure what is involved? We have lots of guidance available on the CSTS Website and in the Forums.

Participating in a Can't Stop The Serenity Event is fun and very rewarding. We look forward to hearing from you!

As the CSTS 2011 season comes to a close, we've got one last piece of awesome to share with you. Thanks to a whole host of fantastic Browncoats, we're excited to announce the 2011 Can't Stop the Serenity Global Auction!

Here's a sneak peek at some of the items up for grabs...

Screen-used Reaver Throwing Razor ball weapon - This is an actual prop from the filming of Serenity, and comes with a certificate of authenticity from Prop Store of London
MF-813 Flying Mule Studio Scale Replica from QMX - thisis an exact studio-scale replica of the Flying Mule as seen in the movie Serenity. Measuring 14.5" x 10.75" x 4.5", the Mule is a highly-detailed model, hand painted to match the movie vehicle right down to the emblems and decals, and is part of a limited edition of 1000.
Jayne Cobb Pin-up Girl Quilt - If Jayne's mom sewed, this is surely the quilt she'd make for him! Twelve pin-up girls float above a starry sky in this quilt: a space babe, Sheena with a big knife that Jayne would love, a girl on a motorcycle, and others, none exactly alike.
Autographed program from CSTS Los Angeles signed by Adam Baldwin (Jayne), Jewel Staite (Kaylee) and Melinda Clarke (Nandi).
Signed Alliance Bank Note - This officially licensed Serenity Alliance bank note has been signed by Ron Glass (Shepherd Book), Jonathan Woodward (Tracy), Nectar Rose (Lenore, the love bot), Sonny Rhodes (singer of the Firefly theme song) and Michael Fairman (Niska).

And that's just a small taste of the huge range of items generously donated by Can't Stop the Serenity supporters!

The auctions will begin on Wednesday 26 October, and end on Saturday 5 November, and are proudly hosted by Fanporium Auctions. Proceeds will be donated to Equality Now.

We sent the signal out and a few of the brave and bold with their brilliant artistical skillz took up the gauntlet (and their palettes) to create the promotional art for next year�s events. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry (or two!) to the 2012 Can�t Stop The Serenity Art Contest.

We know it�s going to be a challenge, but we need you, the good folk of the �Verse, to help us choose which one will become the official artwork for Can�t Stop the Serenity 2012!

You can only vote once and you�ve only got until 1 November 2011 at 11:59 PM PST to get your voice heard and your vote counted.

We're coming to the end of the Can't Stop the Serenity 2011 season, but it's not over yet! We�re tallying up all the donations from this year�s events to determine the 2012 Global Donation Total... will it top the 2010 record of over $140,000? We sure hope so! But while the bean counters are counting the beans, there's still lots going on!

If you want to win some awesome prizes, we'll soon be launching our Global Auction for Equality Now. There are some fantastic goodies up for grabs, and you won't want to miss your chance. We'll have more news on this soon, so keep your eyes peeled on www.cantstoptheserenity.com, and on our Twitter and Facebook.

Have you heard about our Art Contest? We're reaching out to all the creative folks out there to design a logo for next year's events. Our Art Contest has been running since 2009 and has discovered some amazing artists. This year's contest will run until 14 October, so if you've got the creative spirit, get your entries in soon! The winning design will be featured on our website, merchandise and more!

Now, we promised you Jossy goodness and here it is! If you were able to make it to a Can�t Stop the Serenity event this year, you may have had the opportunity to see this year�s Global Intro video. But if you missed out, not to fret! You can watch it now on our YouTube Channel. This year�s intro was packed to the brim with big damn heroes. We�re extremely honoured to have received a very special contribution from Joss, who has inspired us once more to continue to fight the good fight for equality. Other special guests include artist Jason Palmer, writer Jane Espensen, actors Tahmoh Penikett, Claire Kramer, Eliza Dusku, Dichen Lachman, Summer Glau and a host of Browncoats from across the globe! FInally, we'd like to thank all of the wonderful people who have volunteered to coordinate Can�t Stop the Serenity at a global level in 2012. Our fabulous local event organisers are pouring over the applications as we speak, so that we can bring you the best team possible in 2012.

Hi everyone!

The 2012 Global Team Nominees are have been posted, and we'd like to open the (virtual) floor to questions. We appreciate any questions you might have, and encourage you to discuss plans for next year's events with the nominees in the specific forum thread (you must log into the CSTS forum to view the message).

The following volunteers are seeking your approval to undertake roles in 2012:
- Global Event Coordinator: William Pace
- Communications Director: Sheilah O'Connor (aka Lioness)
- Communications Assistant: Julia Svaganovic (aka starbryte)
- Webmaster: Jacque Was
- Art Director: Phil Towle

We have not received nominations for the remaining roles, so these will be filled at the discretion of the GEC and GSC.

Discussion is open until 19 October 2011. Voting will commence on 20 October and end on 23 October. Each registered 2011 Organizer/Global Team member is entitled to one vote (i.e. all those with access to the Organizer Only forum section). Candidate's are not entitled to vote for themselves. You are able to change your vote at any time prior to the close of voting.

So, it's time to ask your questions of the 2012 Global Team Nominees!

Do you or someone you know want to help guide Can't Stop the Serenity towards a bright future?

Nominations are open for roles on the Global Steering Committee and Global Team. Can't Stop the Serenity is organised entirely by volunteers who work side by side with local event organisers to make each year's events a success. We're looking for dedicated, passionate, talented folks to join us. It's fun, rewarding and a great experience!

Nominations are now open, and will be taken until 18 September 2011. The application process for each position is provided via the links below. Applications must be submitted via email to gsc@cantstoptheserenity.com by the closing date.

The following roles are open for nominations:
Global Steering Committee (4 positions)
2012 Global Event Coordinator and Team Roles
Global System Administrator

Voters will have the opportunity to discuss the nominations and ask questions of the nominees from 19-25 September 2011, and voting will be undertaken from 26-30 September 2011. The successful nominees will be announced on 4 October 2011.

New team members will be paired up with volunteers from the outgoing GSC/Global Team for 3 months (October-December) so that they can pick up as much as they can before taking charge. After that time, the members of the GSC will support them as much as they can. Volunteers will be provided with access to the Global Organisation forum, which details the various tasks for each role and provides information, suggestions, recommendations, contacts and more. Handover reports from previous teams will also be provided where available.

Can you believe that the incredible volunteers for Can't Stop the Serenity have organised over 300 events over 6 years, and raised over $600,000 for Equality Now? It's mindblowing! To mark this fantastic occasion, we'd like to interview you - the CSTS Supporters - about your CSTS experience and what keeps you coming back.

Can you believe that there are Browncoats out there that have never heard of CSTS? Firefly & Serenity continues to bring in new fans, and we'd like to help them understand what it is that inspires Browncoats to support CSTS.

To that end, we've got a couple of quick questions for you, and if you can take a few minutes to answer we'd be ever so grateful.

1. When was your first CSTS?
2. How many times have you seen Serenity?
3. Who's your favorite Firefly character and why?
4. What does being a Browncoat mean to you?

Awesome news for Browncoats! QMx has donated a replica of the mule, as seen in Serenity

This studio scale replica costs $349.95, but anyone who attends a CSTS event is eligible to participate in a global raffle to win it! It's a raffle prize, so when you attend a local affiliate event or screening, buy some raffle tickets for a chance to win. The more tickets you buy, the more chances you have to win.

After this year�s events, we will draw for the winner. Of course our CSTS Global Event Coordinator is exempt from the contest, poor fellow.
