Whew...back from last night's screening and well-rested for once. I look forward to a long, lazy Sunday!
I started out the night losing an envelope of money, which didn't make me thrilled. Luckily (I guess?) it was my own money I'd brought to make change and it wasn't much, so EN doesn't suffer for my stupidity.
At any rate, we had a great time last night. A smaller crowd than the past two years, about 50 people or so, but those that came were extremely generous and excited. One group showed up at 5pm because they were certain there'd be a huge line and they wanted to make sure they got seats (I love that!).
Lots of great things to raffle off and to sell. The Earthenware pendants were a huge hit, sold tons of those. A lot of local Browncoats donated some cool things for the raffle (including the Border's Books display from when Serenity was released on DVD) and sent a ton of t-shirts our way. I made cookies with the Independence flag and the EN logo on them and wrapped up some Fruity Oaty bars, which people seemed to get a kick out of.
All told, last night we raised $777.07.
How about that figure! There are some things yet to sell (a local Browncoat donated some great portraits of the cast members we're going to auction off, plus leftover merch. My hope is we'll be looking at a donation of about $900 when everything is over. Not as much as last year, but for doing this on my own and leaving the country for a month at a critical time, I'd say it's pretty damn shiny!
For the third year in a row, I am humbled by the generosity and giving spirit of the Browncoats. I am so proud to be a part of this fandom.
