Everyone’s a hero in their own way, especially the Pennsylvania Browncoats

The first event of this year’s season has gone off like one of Jayne’s grenades, but in a good way! Organiser Matt sent us the write up below, it’s a brilliant example of an affiliate event and shows just how powerful they can be when trying to raise funds for Equality Now, and other local charities.

If you are thinking of holding a screening of Dr Horrible but the restrictions seem too troublesome, e-mail the Global Team at signal@cantstoptheserenity.com and we can talk you through how to work within the guidelines. It’s easier than it looks and can be a fantastic way to mix up your fundraising efforts. Plus, who doesn’t love seeing the Captain singing!

“The Delaware Valley Brigade of the Pennsylvania Browncoats, supported by both the River and Bridges and the Susquehanna Valley Brigades, as well as the Browncoats of NYC, just finished our long weekend at Philadelphia Wizard World Comic Con, thanks to their generous donation of a FREE 10×20 booth, where we collected $370 in donations for Equality Now in exchange for our shiny merchandise.

We also had our Philadelphia Can’t Stop the Serenity Affiliate Screening of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog thanks again to Wizard World‘s donation of a meeting room. Over a hundred people attended, donating an additional $280 in exchange for admission and additional tickets for our shiny door prizes. This brought our total for the weekend to $650.

Rolling in donations from a previous event, the Delaware Valley Brigade of the Pennsylvania Browncoats (as Can’t Stop The Serenity Philadelphia) will be donating $885 to Equality Now for our Affiliate Event of the global Can’t Stop the Serenity charity drive.

We hope many will join us for one or more of the following upcoming CSTS events: Can’t Stop the Serenity Pittsburgh on August 5, Can’t Stop The Serenity Philadelphia Charity Screening on September 23 and Can’t Stop The Serenity NYC on September 29.”
